We'd all like to turn back the clock and have the energy and physique of an 18-year-old. Although there is no fountain of youth, there are lifestyle choices and Res-Q supplements that can help slow down the aging process.

The first thing we want to understand is what actually is aging? What is happening inside our bodies with the aging process?

“Aging is not really the number of years we've lived, but is an accumulation of unrepaired damage over time,” said Dr. Adam Teichman, DPM. “As we age, the body gradually loses its ability to repair, regenerate, and adapt. From a biological standpoint, aging is when damage outpaces repair. The good news is that, aging is not a disease. It's a process that we can influence.”

Telomeres: Why Our Cells Break Down

At the end of each of our DNA chromosomes are structures called telomeres. They protect the genetic material when cells divide much like the plastic tips on shoelaces. When we're younger, our bodies can maintain them, but as we age, the protection wears down.

Every time a cell divides these telomeres get a little shorter. When they become too short, the cells lose their ability to divide properly. They either stop functioning or they die off entirely.

This leads to slower tissue repair, weaker immune function, more inflammation, and increases the signs of aging.

Leading a Healthy Lifestyle

“We can't stop time, but we can absolutely age better,” said Teichman. “We can really slow the damage and stay functional if we look at lifestyle changes and being proactive.”

Lifestyle greatly affects premature aging. Here are some tips to help you look and feel more youthful:

  • Stay active: at least 30 minutes of moderate physical activity a day
  • A healthy diet focusing on fruits and vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, and healthy fats
  • Getting 7-8 hours of sleep a night
  • Finding ways to limit stress (yoga, meditation, taking short breaks throughout the work day)
  • Don’t smoke
  • Consume alcohol in moderation

Omega-3 Can Help Slow Aging

One of the biggest drivers of aging is chronic inflammation, and over time this low-grade inflammation can damage cells, our blood vessels, and our telomeres.

Evidence suggests that Omega-3 fatty acids possess the remarkable ability to preserve telomere length. Studies have shown that individuals with higher levels of Omega-3s in their bloodstream tend to exhibit longer telomeres, signifying a deceleration of cellular aging.

“Omega-3 fatty acids don't stop aging, but they absolutely help slow the biological process that drives it,” said Teichman.

Omega-3s, such as Res-Q 1250, exert potent anti-inflammatory effects, slowing the process of telomere shortening. They also enhance cellular antioxidant defenses, shielding telomeres from oxidative stress, another major culprit of premature aging.

“Getting enough Omega-3 through our diet is challenging because of the fact that yes, we can eat certain foods that have Omega-3 in them,” said Teichman. “But can we eat enough throughout the week or throughout the month to get the maximum benefit? That's where supplementation comes into play and Res-Q 1250 is a great way to supplement what you're not getting through your diet.”

Antioxidants Balance Free Radicals and Oxidative Stress

Free radicals are unstable molecules that are missing an electron. They are a normal byproduct produced when your body converts food into energy and are safe at low levels.

Though, because they are unstable, free radicals will attempt to steal electrons from healthy cells, which will in turn become unstable and search for electrons. This cycle is called oxidative stress, and it damages cell membranes, proteins, and telomeres and accelerates the aging process.

Antioxidants are molecules that donate one of their electrons to a free radical, and stabilize it. They balance out oxidative stress and eliminate the damage to our cells. We can get antioxidants from food or supplements high in vitamin C, vitamin E, selenium, and beta carotene.

Res-Q RenewU is an Antioxidant Powerhouse

Packed with potent amino acids and antioxidants, Res-Q RenewU supports heart health and cognitive function and helps activate the body’s own anti-aging mechanisms by promoting healthy cellular repair and reducing oxidative stress.

It is also formulated to help naturally boost human growth hormone (HGH) levels, which play a crucial role in muscle maintenance, collagen production, energy, and recovery.

“Res-Q RenewU gives the body the raw materials it needs to fix damaged cells or stop damage before it accumulates,” said Teichman. “It supports the pathways the body already uses to defend itself against oxidative stress, repair tissue, and age more efficiently.”
