a person with neuropathy holds his painful feet

On the Oct. 11 episode of the Res-Q Healthline Show on WAEB, host Bobby Gunther Walsh and Dr. Adam Teichman breakdown neuropathy: what it is, how you can get it, and how Res-Q Neuro Health can help alleviate your symptoms.

What is Neuropathy?

Walsh - You see people that have that tingling, numbness, and burning sensation. They first notice it in their feet or legs, but it can be somewhere else too. What's happening in the body when that tingling starts?

Teichman - When we talk about neuropathy, these sensations mean that the nerves aren't getting the adequate blood flow or oxygen that they need.

You want to think of your nerves like electrical wires. They carry messages from your brain to your muscles and back again, but those wires are living tissues and they rely on these tiny capillaries to supply oxygen. When circulation slows down or pressure builds from tight muscles, swelling, or even footwear, the nerves’ metabolism gets disrupted and that creates this feeling of tingling, pins and needles, and burning.

The early stages of neuropathy are temporary ischemia, meaning the nerve is momentarily deprived of blood flow. The problem comes when it becomes chronic from diabetes, inflammation, or even mechanical pressure. Those nerve fibers can start to break down leading to persistent numbness or pain. That's really where they develop neuropathy.

Walsh - So how does Res-Q Neuro Health help with neuropathy?

Teichman - First off, Res-Q Neuro Health has the main B complex of vitamins B6, B9, and B12. We often call these the neurotrophic vitamins because they feed the nerves directly. They help produce energy inside the nerve cells and can repair damage to the myelin sheath that surrounds the nerve.

Alpha-lipoic acid is a really powerful antioxidant that protects nerves from oxidative stress and damage that can be caused by high blood sugar, inflammation, and aging.

We also have some added ingredients like acylcarnitine, which supports metabolism and proper muscle response; Baikal skullcap that helps relieve the painful symptoms by calming the nervous system and reducing the body's inflammatory response promoting blood flow to the brain and the nerve endings; and turmeric, which also helps with lowering inflammation and has analgesic properties to alleviate some of the burning and tingling.

Walsh - We have a testimonial here from Joe. M. I've been diagnosed with idiopathic neuropathy. It was on the front of my legs and feet. I had that diagnosis done with the V.A. I've also gone to Dr. Teichman about my feet when Res-Q Neuro Health came out. I tried that and I feel I've gotten much better results than from anything else I've tried. I wanted to thank you for creating this great product.

So how is Res-Q Neuro Health helping him?

Teichman - It’s the connection between poor circulation and poor nerve health. When circulation slows down either from aging, vascular disease, or diabetes, these nerves don't get enough fuel.

Studies published by the Mass Institute of Health Professions showed that B12 and B6, have been shown to reverse both the symptoms of neuropathy and also the damage that occurred from developing peripheral neuropathy. The authors found that within one year of taking supplementation, the B vitamin therapy appeared to promote restoration of the loss of sensation, decrease pain, and also increase the density of the nerve fibers being affected.

Res-Q Neuro Health specifically addresses nerve health, repairing nerve damage, calming the nervous system, and lowering inflammation.
